We’ve all had at least one boss who we’ve fantasised about being in a position to give them absolute hell without fear of consequences. Well, after winning the lottery, Kiersten gets to live out all our fantasies, and all is fair in love and war!
This style of story is by its nature, predictable. Feelings of frustration and being unappreciated turn to love. However, the journey to how this happens makes this story unique and a laugh from beginning to end!
After winning the lottery, Kiersten decides to give her boss some payback and an office pool is quickly made up betting on how long it will be before Kiersten’s demanding boss fires her for her sudden change in work ethic. The problem is, Cole, Kiersten’s boss, quickly becomes aware of what she is doing and all bets are off. She’s determined to be fired; he’s determined not to let her win. Let the games begin!
It is hard to talk about this book without giving everything away, so I won’t say anything more except… staples, strip clubs, a retreat from hell, and copious amounts of alcohol all mashed together with lots and lots of laughs.
This writer had an engaging writing style. It took me a couple of chapters to really get into it. I’m not sure if I was in a bit of a funk or if it just took time to adjust to the story/pacing etc, but by chapter three I was hooked.
This book was funny, sweet, romantic, and just a little bit evil. A most wonderful combination.
I would recommend it for anyone looking for a fast paced, light, stress free read that has more than a few laugh out loud moments.
